If you were on your death bed, contemplating your life, what are the things you would regret not having done?
This was my first bucket list, from 2003:
1. Quit my job. Quit working. Devote my life to making my dreams come true.
2. Sell our house in Silicon Valley and move to Hawaii.
3. Take a road trip around the USA.
4. Take a long trip around the world. Along the way, dive in Palau. Spend a night in an over-water hut in Tahiti. Explore Fiji, New Zealand and Australia. Meditate in Bali. Study yoga at an ashram in India. See Victoria Falls. White water raft on the Zambezi river. See the pyramids and go boating on the Nile. See Istanbul and sail the coast of Turkey.
Some of those things got done, some are still on my list ten years later. That’s okay. The list evolves.
This blog is my way of keeping my friends and family informed as I wander the globe. I hope you enjoy it.
About me: I am a fifth-generation Californian. Born and raised in the East Bay Area. College at UC Santa Barbara. Obsessed with travel. Almost became a lawyer. Stumbled into the video game industry while it was still new and fun. Tried to live simply and save my money. Traveled whenever I could.
Through my work I met and married a beautiful, graceful girl named Joy. For many years we had a home together, filled with love, songs and laughter. It was heartbreaking when cancer took her, still so young and vibrant, still in her forties. We shared a lot of adventures together, and I still miss her badly. I thought we’d have another 35 years to do it all, together. Her family remains my family.
Now I live in Hawaii and focus on travel, personal growth and leading the most adventurous life I can.
